Quick Review #1

Title: Thirteen Reasons Why
Author: Jay Asher
My rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Online Rating: 4.06 out of 5 stars

(NO SPOILERS)

This book revolves around a boy named Clay who revives a box which is filled with tapes. As he listens to first tape he recognises the voice. The voice belonged to Hannah Baker. Each tape represents a reason why she decided to die. This book was very engaging and was filled will suspense which made you turn the page over each time. It is a very serious topic to deal with and Jay Asher did justice to this topic. A must read and an excellent stand alone novel!

Allegiant by Veronica Roth

Title: Allegiant
Author: Veronica Roth
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Online Ratings: 3.6 out of 5 stars

NON-SPOILER SECTION!

Summary: The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories. But what does Tobias and Tris discover that could change everything?

SPOILER ALERT!

My review: Allegiant is the final book in the Divergent trilogy which explains the "Faction system" in their Dystopian Chicago. To be honest the idea of Damaged Genes and Good Genes was a great way of explaining the system as in the end being Divergent was not important- it identified that everyone is equal, even though Tobias was upset with the discovery to represent he had damaged genes. The scientific use of genes was also amazing and Veronica Roth did a great lot of research on that as it was shown throughout the book. Veronica Roth has personally been one of my favourite authors, the first time I started following Tris' story, I felt like I could relate to her and experience what she is going through. Tris' death was a tragedy that kept me heart-broken for days and I applaud Veronica Roth for the huge risk she took. Overall I was very pleased with this book as it finally uncovered all the secrets we have been waiting to know.

Divergent Soundtrack

Today, the Divergent movie crew released the songs which will feature in Divergent's soundtrack! This exciting news had only reached me at 4pm and I already love the artists that will be on the soundtrack. Some artists are Zedd & Ellie. The picture below, which was edited by me, (credit from www.divergentlife.com) shows the other songs in the track. 29 days left for American initiates!

Teardrop by Lauren Kate Review

Title: Teardrop
Author: Lauren Kate
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Online Ratings: 3.75 out of 5 stars

NON-SPOILER SECTION!

Summary: Never, ever cry... Seventeen-year-old Eureka won't let anyone close enough to feel her pain. After her mother was killed in a freak accident, the things she used to love hold no meaning. She wants to escape, but one thing holds her back: Ander, the boy who is everywhere she goes, whose turquoise eyes are like the ocean. And then Eureka uncovers an ancient tale of romance and heartbreak, about a girl who cried an entire continent into the sea. Suddenly her mother's death and Ander's appearance seem connected, and her life takes on dark undercurrents that don't make sense. Can everything you love be washed away?

SPOILER ALERT!

My review: Teardrop is romantic book and a good read. Personally, this wasn't one of my favourite books by Lauren Kate but I am really excited for the sequel to come out later this year. I feel as if this book didn't have a lot of "action" until the end and all the information is 'thrown' at you in a few pages which makes the book's main message confusing. I still enjoyed this book and I am sure others will too.
